International relations

Ombudsman Mr Reidar Hjermann has continued the practice of inviting professionals from other ombudsman offices to visit Norway for meetings with the staff there. The UN Committee has also encouraged the establishment of children's ombudsman offices in all countries where the CRC is ratified, which makes Norway especially interesting, with 25 years of experience.

Although the office does not have the capacity to welcome all, the Ombudsman for Children throughout the year meet with delegations from around the world. These meetings provide a good opportunity to discuss various topics on children's rights, both on the legal and practical level and to share the Norwegian experiences with representatives from new institutions.

It is the Ombudsman's belief that building international relations is invaluable in the aim of securing legal protection in the different parts of the world.
