About Reidar Hjermann

SHORT CURRICULUM VITAE

Mr Reidar Hjermann is the Ombudsman for Children in Norway. He commenced his first period as Ombudsman in April 2004.

Hjermann is psychologist by profession, specialised in clinical psychology for children and adolescents'. He has had his private practice since 1998, in addition to working at the Department for Children and Adolescents' Psychology at the Psychiatric Centre in Vestfold, Norway. Mr Hjermann has also been working with refugees at Tanum and Fossnes refugee processing centres.

Reidar Hjermann enjoys several honorary posts, one of them being part of the human rights panel of the Norwegian Psychological Association. He is also safety deputy at the Psychiatric Centre in Vestfold, as well as being part of the reference group for Save the Children. He is also part of the county Governor of Vestfold's reference group for improving the health services offered to refugees and asylum seekers.
